Zentrum für Wissenschaftliche Weiterbildung an der CAU e.V. (ZwW)

The course is designed as a part-time-study program. Calculated with an average of 15 credits per semester, the workload is perfectly manageable for professionals working on their job. It is possible to start the master’s thesis already in the third semester, thereby reducing the higher workload in the forth term.

Blended Learning

The academic feasibility is ensured in particular through the concept of blended learning, which is a mixture of

  • Self-study and theoretical study
  • Lectures (attendance period)
  • Discourse (attendance period, e-learning)
  • Training courses for teaching (attendance period, e-learning)
  • Case studies and processing (attendance period)
  • Group work (attendance period, e-learning)
  • Presentation (attendance period, e-learning)

Time schedule of the program in terms of blended-learning

Start of the program is the summer semester which begins with a synchronous webinar providing a general introduction to the program and a preparation for the attendance period in April. This orientation session is followed by a phase of self-study of the modules’ study materials.

The attendance periods will generally be used for the work in two or three modules respectively.

The synchronous webinars following the attendance periods will be in-depth studies of the subject matter previously treated, discussions of the practice assignments and tasks as well as presentations and discussions of students’ papers. Furthermore, the synchronous webinars will include discussions of the send-in assignments which students must compose between attendance periods and examination of modules. These webinars will also serve as preparations for the concluding examinations of modules at the end of the respective semester.
