Structure of the programme

The extra occupational programme “International Master of Applied Scientific Dental Education and Research” (iMasder) provides students with course content required for the Master’s examination. The material comprises thematically differentiated study components (modules), network-based courses (webinars), and compulsory classroom attendance. Furthermore, work placements give an opportunity to experience and report on diverse fields of teaching and research.

Internationally recognised research results, especially from the medical faculty, determine the content of the curriculum and the content of the teaching and evidence-based studies and guidelines. The curriculum, study material, associated tasks and oral exams are continually being revised to reflect changes in current research, and are updated regularly. This is ensured through a system of internal quality assurance and evaluation. Daily discussions and new findings from international studies are noted during the attendance periods, the e-learning conferences and submitted tasks are developed into course subject matter. The study material is also used as a “wiki” and can be updated as necessary.

The course content is divided into seven modules. Each module is a complete study component, and references between the modules are given so that together they form a cumulative learning process. The comprehensive learning process is communicated through Blended-Learning and is organized by a Learning Management System (Moodle).

The Blended-Learning approach is a mixture of:

  • Self-study (reading the study book) and theoretical study,
  • Lectures (attendance period),
  • Case studies and processing (attendance period),
  • Discourse (attendance period, e-learning),
  • Training courses for teaching (attendance period, e-learning)
  • Group work (attendance period, e-learning),
  • Presentation (attendance period, e-learning)
